What is recreational gymnastics?
Recreational gymnastics is classes offered to those who are just beginning or do not want the stress of competition. It is low-stress with fewer hours of practice per week than the team.
What's the difference between recreational and the competitive team?
The competition team practices between 6 and 12 or more hours per week. Recreational classes are much less of a commitment between 1 and 3 hours of practice per week. The recreational gymnasts compete at "Fun Meets" hosted at Parry's with prizes won based on scores, instead of medals and placements between the gymnasts. Competitive gymnasts compete at USAIGC sanctioned meets in New York, along with New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Florida for State and World level competitions.
